Search Engine Optimisation has become more important than it has ever been. With almost 5 million websites launching every month, the difficulty of staying visible on the search engine results is heavily increasing. Many web developers are forced to act fast and consider riskier approaches to win against competition. White-Hat developers turn Grey and more professionals are making use of unfair methods to rank high.
In response to this Google introduced a new algorithm update known as Google Penguin. It is an advanced algorithm which fights specifically against Black-Hat developers and their practises. The problem: while the update penalised millions of websites, many of them are pure White-Hat sites. Confusion rises and protests occur, Google offers help: for the first time webmasters are able to send them lists of backlinks which caused their websites to be penalised. The idea: those lists will be excluded when a website is ranked. Unfortunately, the problem was not solved.
