It is important to understand the psychology of older men before deciding to hook up with them. What makes one irresistible to older men can be very simple and it’s usually the things that we take for granted or never pay attention to. While it can be a futile exercise addressing the younger men by their totem, it can actually be a deposit for better rewards if done with tactic to older men. I also think in other cultures, different ways of showing respect can be applied, for example talking up to, not down to, a man or exercising listening skills can show that respect too. Any show of respect wins over the older man.
Dependency and vulnerability:
Even though in one breath it is said that men like independent women; this is more of a criteria targeted at younger men. Older men on the other hand like to take care of their women. In my culture again, it is a cliché that “Older men are good providers”. If a woman has reached a certain age without finding a husband of her age, she is usually encouraged to hook up with older men. Regardless of the woman’s age, getting someone at least 5 years older can do the trick. Men, like responsibility and they feel more powerful if they can provide for the woman in their lives. Older men are more generous, perhaps because they have achieved more in life and are not saddled with immediate financial obligations. Here I’m talking of men closer to or beyond retirement age. They find it attractive to have responsibility over their partner. Just looking through ads in the dating sites reveals that most of the time older men are looking for younger women to spoil. However, this dependency has to go with recognition and respect mentioned above. A woman is irresistible if she can be vulnerable and dependent on her man, of course to a reasonable extent.
Older men like to pursue the relationship…
In this day and age where women are considering themselves at par with men and have rights to pursue relationships they like; it can be a disadvantage if an older man is involved. Perhaps this could boil down to the value system and the amount of experience that the older man possesses. I have observed that most of the time, older men like to be in charge and to pursue the relationship. Older guys take love and intimacy seriously. A woman who can demonstrate that they appreciate and value these two traits is irresistible since the older they get, men also like to be pampered like small children. They like genuine love that can stand the test of time since getting old comes with challenges. Perhaps the guy is losing their hair or some other challenge which can threaten their masculinity.
